Brenda Tharp
Overview
Brenda Tharp left a corporate career in 1985 to pursue a lifelong dream of travel and outdoor photography. She studied under National Geographic photographers and renowned photojournalists, as well as acclaimed nature and landscape photographers, as she developed her image-making career. Today, fulfilling her dream, she creates photographs for magazines, books, calendars, greeting cards and exhibits. Her clients have included Alaska Airlines, Audubon, British Gas, Canon USA, Chronicle Books, Michelin Travel Publications, National Geographic Books, Northwest Airlines, Sierra Club, The National Park Service, and The Grove Spa and Resort (London).
Brenda speaks to audiences both nationally and internationally, and has over 20 years of experience in teaching workshops and seminars. She was featured in several episodes of Canon's television series "Photo Safaris, " and on various local television programs. She was profiled in Studio Photography & Design and Rangefinder magazines. She wrote and photographed the book "Creative Nature and Outdoor Photography" which has received critical acclaim by many photography organizations and individuals.
When not teaching, Brenda directs her creativity towards stock photography, books, and fine art prints. She resides with her partner and their dog near San Francisco, California.
